A goal hungry Tipperary got the better of Waterford in the Munster Camogie Semi Final at a sun drenched Páirc Uí Chaoimh (4-11 to 1-9).
Cait Devane scored 2-4 for the Premier while Eimear Heffernan and Róisín Howard also rattled the net. Beth Carton shot 1-7 for the Déise including a late penalty.
Three goals in six minutes left Tipp 3-5 to 0-4 ahead at the break. Carton opened the scoring after 30 seconds but that was only time Sean Power's side led all evening. On sixteen minutes, Devane beat two Déise defenders before she flicked the ball past Brianna O'Regan. Four minutes later, Eimear Heffernan rifled a bullet to the roof of the Waterford net. Róisín Howard got their third major on 22 minutes. Waterford went 20 minutes without a score. Carton took the fight to Tipp and finished the half with four points.
Waterford skipper Lorraine Bray split the posts at the start of the second period. Devane put the game to bed on 33 minutes when she blasted home (4-5 to 0-5).
Déise sub Róisín Kirwan was tackled to the ground by Julieanne Bourke for a late penalty. Carton converted with the aid of the post. The three-time All Star fought to the finish.
Sean Power's charges must put this disappointment behind them ahead of the start of the All Ireland Series on the first weekend of June.
