Former Waterford minor and Under 21 coach Kieran O'Gorman believes that Dan Shanahan will hurl for Lismore for as long as he can. The 45 year old started the eight point win over Dunhill last Sunday.

"Dan is training as hard as he ever did before. Dan loves the game and Dan loves Lismore. He will do anything for Lismore. If Dan is 55 and Lismore knock on his door and ask him to play, he'd probably play. That's the character he is."

In his view, Jack Prendergast has been the standout performer of the group stages. The Waterford attacker has shot 1-24 in two games in the absence of Maurice Shanahan. "Jack is after taking over the mantle of free taker with Maurice out. From what I've seen Jack has been the player of the championship so far. He has been absolutely outstanding."
