Tipperary are on the hunt for a new senior hurling boss.
The Premier parted ways with Colm Bonnar this morning after just one season in charge of the county. The Cashel native started his tenure wth a loss to Kerry in the Munster hurling cup in January, with the year coming to a very early close after a record loss to Cork in the Munster Championship. The loss to the Rebels was the worst for Tipp in 86 years.
The Waterford resident saw his two selectors Tommy Dunne and Paul Curran depart overnight with the Irish Examiner reporting that senior players had voiced concerns over the quality of the team's preparations.
Tipperary County Board has thanked Bonnar for his service, but has ultimately decided to "relieve Colm Bonnar from his duties as Tipperary senior hurling manager."
The masses have already begun to theorize as to who will take over from Bonnar. The obvious first port of call would be Liam Cahill who was offered the Tipperary job last year before deciding to stick with Waterford.
The Ballingarry man guided Waterford to the All-Ireland Final and Munster Final in 2020, while making it as far as the All-Ireland semi in 2021. The Déise were beaten by Limerick in all three of those knockout games.
Much like Tipperary in 2022, the year ended far too early for Waterford. A heavy defeat to Clare in Ennis meant that the year came to an end in Munster.
Cahill is yet to make his plans known for the future.
