The Ballymacarbry ladies will seek their 41st county title in a row on Sunday when they take on great rivals Comeragh Rangers at the Dungarvan GAA grounds.
It's the ninth time in ten years that these two teams will face off in the final. Attacker Michelle Ryan will be looking for her 24th county medal. She loves pulling on the blue jersey.
"Club is everything. It's your locality, it's your cousins, it's your sisters, it's your friends. There's an extra passion involved, there's an extra pride involved. I have heard it nationally and locally 'how could it matter that much to them?' Anybody who was at the Dungarvan GAA grounds last year could see the utter joy at winning that county final. The past players were there and it meant a lot to them to watch us winning a county title. It is the love of the game and the love of our locality."
Michelle's father Michael stepped away as manager earlier this year. Mike Guiry is in charge for 2022. "It's not that strange to be honest. We've had years before where he hasn't been involved. The funny stat really is that as long as I've been playing with Ballymacarbry, the manager's name has been Michael! Whether it's been Michael Ryan, Mike Guiry, Michael O'Sullivan, Michael J O'Ryan or Michael Doocey, it's always been a Michael that's been at the helm!"
