The Waterford senior camogie team and management were out in force on Saturday last running their 5k to raise much needed funds for their training fund.
Midfielder Orla Hickey says they were overwhelmed with the support shown. "It's been a brilliant idea and we've gotten great support from the get-go, I just want to say thanks to everyone who has donated and supported us, it's really going to go a long way and it will really help us".
It was a great effort from all concerned and from Passage to Cappoquin and everywhere in between with the whole panel along with their friends, family and supporters out doing what they could on what turned out to be a lovely Saturday weather-wise.
The Waterford senior camogie manager, Dungarvan's Derek Lyons really led the way by completing a 50k walk which took him just over 7 hours to finish, a really phenomenal effort by him and all done within 5k of his home
Defender Lorraine Bray said "Even when I saw that he was doing 50k I was taken aback by it. I was wondering would he be making us do it soon? It's some achievement for him and even just to get the word out there and spread more awareness for the fundraiser. He was doing it all within his 5k so fair play to him. It's a brilliant achievement for him and to raise money for the camogie."
