Team Ireland are doing the country proud over there in Tokyo, Japan, with a gold and a bronze medal already in the bag.

The four member women's rowing team came home in third place earlier this week, followed by the rowing duo of Fintan McCarthy and Paul O Donovan who snatched gold.

Later tonight (or early tomorrow morning - Sunday 1st August) all Waterford eyes will be on Thomas Barr who runs in the first of the semi-finals of the 400m hurdles, chasing the medal that he missed out on in Rio.

To celebrate the 116 athletes who have travelled to Japan to represent their country we thought we would look back at the Irish at the Olympics from time gone by.
