Gardaí in Waterford continue to promote their winter campaign of 'Lock Up and Light Up."

However, while this remains sound advice for all ages, additional advice has been issued for older people in society amid an increase in unexpected callers.

According to the Crime Prevention Officer in Waterford, Sergeant Deirdre O'Neill, there have been waves of rogue tradespeople calling to doors in recent times.

Speaking to Dymphna Nugent from WLR News, she spoke about the desire people have for face to face contact, but advised of the potential dangers when people are scammed out of money and data.
