Ambitious plans have been outlined for the creation of an inclusive sensory play space in Dungarvan.
Members of Autism Support Dungarvan have been working on the project and revealed plans to WLR News at the launch of their Autism Friendly Dungarvan initiative last night.
The event was held at The Park Hotel to mark the start of the quest to obtain the designation in collaboration with Ireland's autism charity, As I Am.
Chair of Autism Support Dungarvan, Faith Tutty, says a site has already been identified for the development of a dedicated play space.
"Waterford City and County Council are supporting plans for the project with the provision of a site for an inclusive sensory play space in Dungarvan," she explained.
"The location is being reviewed by the planning department. We're really looking forward to working with them to reach this goal for the Dungarvan community. We'd really love to get this over the line - it would be life changing and welcome more families to holiday in Dungarvan and it perfectly aligns with our goal of making Dungarvan an Autism Friendly Town."
