The funeral of former US President Jimmy Carter, who died on December 29th aged 100, gets underway on Saturday in his home state of Georgia.
Events will conclude on January 9th at the Washington National Cathedral on what will be National Day of Mourning in the US.
He served as President from 1977 to 1981. Although he never visited Ireland during his tenure in The White House, he visited County Waterford in 1995 and stayed with the Queally family at Gardenmorris, Kill.

During his Waterford visit, the then 70-year-old was accompanied by his wife Rosalynn and two grandchildren.
They paid a courtesy visit to Áras an Uachtaráin to meet with then President of Ireland Mary Robinson. However, the majority of their stay was spent in the Déise.
