UN Climate Change Conference
On this week's show, Maria had a very interesting discussion and debate for her Environmental slot with Elaine Mullan. Elaine, a lecturer In Environmental Matters at
WIT, spoke about the upcoming
UN Climate Change Conference. She went through some some 'buzz words' we hear like Net Zero Emissions. Elaine also discussed where we are, as opposed to where we SHOULD be in terms of trying to redress some of the damage we've done.
Maria made the point that everyone would love to be able to do more to help the planet, but it just seems to cost us money, retrofitting our homes, buying a more economical vehicle etc. She questions whether it's fair to ask of an already jaded public who are doing their best to recycle and reduce waste .
Elaine also made the point that we need to use Covid as an example of what we can do when we have to.
