Wider community effort needed to protect Tramore's Sandhills

Wide deposits of sand have collapsed from Tramore's sandhills following Storm Éowyn.

That's according to local councillor Jim Griffin.

He joined Ollie and Dymphna on air in a private capacity as someone with a long-standing interest in the backstrand area.

He raised concerns over the widening of the Rinnashark area, and the impact of coastal erosion on the sandhills and its ecosystem.

While praising the efforts of local community groups, he said more needs to be done to claim back Tramore's sandhills.
