Waterford FC fell to their second defeat of the week when they lost out to an organised Galway United side at Eamonn Deasy Park; full-time score 2-1

They fell behind on 34 minutes when David Hurley floated in a cross that fell to Ed McCarthy at the back post and he fired home off the far post.

Just after the hour mark, Shane Griffin fouled Regan Donelon just inside the box and David Hurley stepped up to fire to the right-hand corner.

The lifeline came nine minutes from time when Niall O Keeffe fed Shane Griffin who then found Ronan Coughlan and he gave Clarke no chance.
