Waterford picked up a first win in the hurling league last Saturday, beating Laois in O' Moore Park.

With one win and one draw in the league so far, the squad now have a break weekend before returning to host Antirim next weekend.

League debutant Paudie Fitzgerald made a big impression against Laois, scoring 7 points, while Austin Gleeson also stood tall sending eight points over the bar.

A lot of the talk after the game related to a member of the Waterford backroom team who was positioned behind the goal, seemingly relaying messages from the management team to the players.

Davy Fitzgerald said he totally refuted that it was for guiding the puck out strategy and purely to get messages to the players since they no longer have the use of a maor foirne.
