Four Waterford boxers remain in contention at the National Senior Elite Championships this weekend.

Sean Purcell was the first Waterford boxer to claim victory with an almost clean sweep against his Dublin opponent Jake McMahon.

Meanwhile, Tramore's Zara Breslin defeated Clodagh Green 5-nil to advance to the deciding bout - where she is going to face none other than Olympic Gold medalist Kellie Harrington.

Dungarvan's Christina Desmond was given a walkover and will step through the ropes next when she faces Tiffany O'Reilly.

Kelyn Cassidy will have his first contest of the championships this Friday when he faces Brian Kennedy in the 80kg semi-final. Cassidy is the reigning and defending light heavyweight champion who now has the chance to win back-to-back titles.

Breslin was in the WLR studios this week to look ahead to the biggest fight of her career, along with her coach Ray Kelly. While Cassidy also popped in to talk about his hopes for Friday night.
