After a season for the ages where she averaged 10.5 points per game, Waterford and De La Salle ace Beth Carton is the 2023 Camogie Player of the Year.

Carton was a force to be reckoned with across league and Championship, scoring 6 goals and 121 points in 13 games as they Déíse secured their place in a first All-Ireland final in 78 years.

Division One Camogie for 2024 was wrapped up when Waterford beat Wexford in the 1B final, and there was more history made when they beat Cork for the time at senior level in the Munster Championship.

Speaking to WLR Sport last week when he announced his departure as Waterford manager, Sean Power showered Carton with praise saying she's the best he's ever seen.

"The girl is the best I've seen, in anything. In her approach, her attitude, her personality, her demeanor, her support for her teammates, her support for her club - she does a huge amount of work with the little girls in De La Salle as well. Easy to coach, eager to learn; you could a 300-page book on how good Beth Carton is and you'd need more pages. You could throw it across the county and everyone would agree. I would find it very difficult to find any word that would be negative about her and I mean that from the bottom of my heart. An incredible athlete...a good pal, she's a gem and she's ours. We talk about the Limerick hurlers - and they're pretty good - Beth is up there with them. I would sit down on an open mic debate with anyone on this one and challenge them that our Beth Carton is one of the best...the best, I don't know."

Carton spoke to WLR Sport on Monday.
