These two sides faced off in the semis last year in a game that was described by many as being of intercounty standard.

Ballygunner climbed the Na Piarsaigh mountain, digging deep in the second half to turn over a five-point halftime deficit, ultimately winning by 5 at the full-time whistle after outscoring the Limerick side 1.11 to 0.4 in the second stanza.

Daragh O' Sullivan's Gunners opened up their Munster campaign two weeks ago, hammering Sarsfields by 17 points at Walsh Park. It's the third straight year that the Waterford champions have put that scoreline on their opponents in the opening round.

Ahead of throw-in, former Waterford Captain Brian Flannery sat down with WLR Sport to discuss how this meeting might play out.
