Real Christmas trees may soon become a 'luxury item' with an association of Irish growers warning about the numbers of people exiting the business.
Joe Flynn is chair of the Irish Christmas Tree Growers' group (ICTG) and he says a generation of Christmas tree farmers are retiring from the business and struggling to find people to succeed them.
On average, he says, about 45% of Christmas trees are plastic but in 5/6 years time that statistic will be almost exactly reversed.
Joe spoke to Maria McCann on 'Deise Today' this morning (Tues).
