A Waterford Minister has hit out at the "negative" response to Waterford receiving just seven million euro in the HSE's Capital Plan - describing the figure as "misleading".

Minister of State for Mental Health and Older People Mary Butler defended the funding allocation on 'Deise Today' this morning.

She told Damien Tiernan she is frustrated with "negative" comments in Waterford and said she would not accept that Waterford is being left behind.

"I'm tired aof this negative narrative," she said.

"We have housing being delivered all over Waterford; the Waterford Walls; the Greenway link;  Waterford is the best place to live - but I'm tired and sick of the negative narrative being portrayed about Waterford by some politicians and some commentators."

She also outlined more information about the Capital Plan.
