A Co. Waterford man who suffered a heart attack a fortnight ago says he's lucky to be alive as treatment for him was not available in UHW.
Sean Breathnach, aged 63, from An Rinn spoke on Deise Today this morning about his experience and called for politicians to deliver on their promise for 24/7 cardiac care for UHW.
Sean, who described itself as a fit and active man, developed pains on the Wednesday evening but didn't think much of it until this intensified that Saturday.
He was taken to UHW but it became clear he needed to be transferred to Cork University Hospital for the cardiac intervention he needed.
He was brought there by ambulance and the blockage that was in his heart was dealt with.
Sean feels he is one of the lucky ones to survive and told Damien Tiernan this morning that he believes it's time 24/7 care was put in place at UHW for cardiac patients....
