Waterford FF councillor Jason Murphy has been reacting this morning (Monday) to an interview with Waterford's last Cabinet minister Martin Cullen.
The current Mayor of the city and county described Martin Cullen as a "fantastic minister for Waterford" during the years 2002 to 2010, delivering "way above his station" but said the political landscape has changed since.
On Friday's 'Deise Today', Martin Cullen spoke of the appointment of Waterford's Mary Butler as Government Chief Whip and a Super Junior Minister.
He said the Whip job was a "tough" and "demanding" role (a job he previously turned down) and he voiced how he felt some "over confidence" in the air over the prospect of Mary Butler being appointed a senior minister may have worked against her.
This morning on 'Deise Today', Jason Murphy - who works in Mary Butler's constituency office - said Waterford needs to "get behind" Mary Butler in her new role which, he says, will give her "unrestricted and unprecedented access to every line minister" which will be important to Waterford when it comes to issues such as Waterford Airport and 24/7 cardiac care.
