Today is February 1st, St Brigid's Day, and there has been a renewed and growing interest in Ireland's only female patron saint in recent times, with a new annual public holiday and numerous festivals celebrating her life.
Kilrossanty, at the foothills of the Comeragh Mountains, is one County Waterford community where there has been a special devotion to St Brigid for many years.
