AFTER a three-week trial and some very harrowing evidence being heard, a jury yesterday (Thursday) found Josef Puska guilty of the murder of Ashling Murphy.

The 23-year-old schoolteacher's mother held a framed picture of her beloved daughter aloft and called her killer 'a monster' after the jury verdict.

Anne Scully is the manager of Waterford Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre and she spoke to Damien Tiernan this morning (Friday) about what this verdict means for women across the country.

She discussed the recovery from the trauma that Ashling Murphy's family and friends will face after the tragedy and the trial.

And she also spoke about the importance of education around violence against women, what the Government needs to do improve this issue, and how violence against women is never just a woman's issue.
