WLR FM was honoured with a Civic Reception in City Hall on Friday March 31st , recognising the station’s unprecedented success at the Irish Music Rights Organisation (IMRO), winning ‘Local Station of the Year’ consecutively in 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022.

The motion was proposed by Cllr. Jason Murphy and seconded by Cllr. Lola O’Sullivan.

Mayor of Waterford City and County Cllr. John O’Leary paid tribute to WLR FM Managing Director Des Whelan and his team on the station’s accomplishments.

Numerous Councillors also spoke and highlighted the importance of local radio.
