Pat Kinevane has been active in the arts for over two decades, during which time he's worked in theatre, film, radio and television. The Cobh native picked up a Laurence Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in Affiliate Theatre, in collaboration with Fishamble theatre company, for Silent, which is one of the triology coming to Theatre Royal in April. Fishamble has been working with Kinevane since the late nineties, and continues to do so. You'll find out more here
An accidental Trilogy
Pat Kinevane wrote the three plays at totally different times of his life and tells me that they were never originally intended as a trilogy but that's now how they're seen. He wrote Forgotten in 2006; about four elderly characters living in retirement homes. Silent, about a homeless person, came along in 2011 and the third play Underneath, which looks at an increasingly shallow society, was written in 2014.
Award after Award
The plays have been performed in over 60 venues throughout Ireland. Silent has won Olivier, Fringe First, Herald Angel and Argus Angel awards, and Underneath won Fringe First, LA Stage Raw and Adelaide Fringe Best Theatre awards, and was nominated for Offie/Off West End and Total Theatre awards.
A chance to see all three plays in Waterford
This is a rare opportunity to catch some or all of this award winning trilogy in Theatre Royal on April 4th, 5th and 6th. They're all one man shows with Kinevane on stage, but he tells me the production brings so much more than that in terms of technical and lighting. For more on the theatre interviews we do at WLR, listen here to an intervew On the Fringe with John Connors about Ireland's Call.
