West Waterford's Katie Nolan is bringing her exhibition to this renowned space in Cork

Katie, from Ballyduff Upper, is married with three children and has always had a passion for drawing. When she left a job in the bank after a number of decades she decided to study visual art at Dungarvan VTOS. This sparked in her a passion to continue her education further.

A Degree in Art on Sherkin Island Cork

Katie was accepted into Crawford to study art full time but turned it down as it wouldn't have suited  her lifestyle. However, it was while she was there for an interview, that she got chatting to a lady who told her about a four year degree that you could do on a part time basis, on Sherkin Island in Cork. It's called the B.A.V.A Sherkin (BA in Visual Art.) You'll find out more here

Returning to education as an adult

Katie is in now in third year, and says she's absolutely loving her weekends on Sherkin Island with her college mates. She really recommends returning to education at any stage of life and says age should never be a barrier.
