A woman has died following a crash near Kilmacthomas this morning.

It happened shortly after 8 o'clock when a truck and a car collided between the Faha turnoff and McGrath's Cross on the N25.

The driver of the car, a young woman in her 20s, was pronounced dead.

Her body has now been taken to University Hospital Waterford where a post-mortem will take place.

The scene of the collision remains closed as a Garda Technical Examination is being carried out.

Diversions have been put in place for those travelling from Waterford towards Dungarvan by taking the Stradbally Exit, turning right under the flyover, emerging at Griffin's Garage to rejoin the N25.

And for those travelling from Dungarvan towards Waterford, turn left at McGrath's Cross, onto the Old Waterford Road, again rejoining after Griffin's Garage.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward and any road users with video footage (including dash cam) is asked to make this available to them.
