Works on Carroll's Cross junction set to commence in Spring of 2021

Works at the Carroll's Cross junction on the N25 are expected to get underway in March of 2021.

The report on the junction is expected to be finalised by Waterford City and County Council over the coming months for Transport Infrastructure Ireland.

Local Labour Cllr for the area Ger Barron says people have raised concerns about the accident blackspot over the past number of years.

"It will be the middle of next year when work will begin on it and the sooner the better because it's been in the news for quite a while for all the wrong reasons.

"This will entail traffic calming with islands in the middle, it will have very good quality public lighting and hopefully it will solve some of the problems."

Cllr Barron explains where Waterford City and County Council are with the process: "The council are finalising the report to send to the TII for approval. The approval is for half a million euro's worth of work to be done there.

"Then, the local authority hopes to bring it to the December or January meeting for approval and it will then go to the public consultation period. If that can be passed, we can go to tender by March."
