Woodie's has reversed its decision to ban children under the age of 16 from its stores.

It had said they wouldn't be allowed in when it reopens tomorrow due to social distancing concerns.

But after heavy criticism the retaler changed its position saying children would be welcome with an adult.

In a post on social media, Woodie's said "we value all of our customers and do not want anyone to feel excluded".

CEO of single parents' group, One Family, Karen Kiernan, says she's glad management changed their mind:

"The initial policy was poorly thought out and we thought that they would have rethought it over the last couple of weeks during lockdown; they obviously didn't do that. But when people spoke up we're really pleased that Woodie's listened and they responded to it, and that's as good as an outcome as we can hope because for many families, they do need to bring a child with them."
