Woman rescued by RNLI after slipping and falling near Tramore Pier

A woman has been rescued after slipping and falling off the North Wall in Tramore.

Tramore Lifeboat received a call from the CoastGuard at approximately 3:30pm this afternoon.

The launched their lifeboat and were with the casualty within minutes.

They assisted the casualty onto a stretcher and brought her around to the pier where an ambulance was waiting.

It's suspected the woman broke her ankle during the incident.

Paul Touhy, Press Officer with Tramore Lifeboat, is reminding the public to exercise caution while outdoors so as not to put pressure on the emergency services:

"It's probably timely to warn people to be careful around rocks and around the area. With a lot of people getting out and walking, they may be getting a little bit too adventurous. Our lifeboat crews will attend but obviously in a small lifeboat social distancing goes out the window."
