A woman and her dog frightened off an intruder during a burglary at her home in Waterford.

It happened during the middle of the day last Sunday in Birch Terrace, Lisduggan.

"This was 3.15pm so it would have still been bright," Sergeant Deirdre O'Neill said on WLR's latest episode of Waterford Garda Watch.

"A homeowner in Birch Terrace, Lisduggan disturbed an intruder in the back garden of the house.

"She had the assistance of her dog, which probably contributed to him making his quick escape.

"But she did note that he was in a grey or silver coloured saloon car.

"So, if you saw a vehicle matching that description in the Lisduggan area last Sunday from 3pm to 3.30pm, we would ask you to contact Waterford Crime Unit."

Waterford Garda Station can be reached on 051 305300.
