A status yellow wind warning has been issued for the South East.
It will run from 11pm tonight until 5am tomorrow morning with gusts of up to 100 kilometres per hour for Waterford, Wexford and Wicklow.
Met Éireann is also warning there is the possibility of coastal flooding.
Cathal Nolan from Ireland's Weather Channel said that people should expect heavy rain:
"We will expect to see some very strong winds overnight in Waterford in relation to a small but developing area of low pressure that's expected to bring on some very heavy rain as well.
"It's not so much the wind warning but we certainly could see a rainfall warning issued in Waterford as well. There will be some torrential rain so possibly up 35-40 millimetres falling in a pretty short space of time."
