An investigation has been launched after two men died in a light-plane crash in Co Wexford yesterday evening.
It happened shortly before six o'clock near Duncormick.
Gardaí were called to the scene of the accident following reports that an aircraft had crashed.
They requested the assistance of the Irish Coast Guard and rescue helicopter 117 was dispatched from Waterford Airport and tasked with checking for wreckage near the site.
The coast guard’s Kilmore Quay ground unit was also deployed and assisted Gardaí in securing the area around the crash.
The plane took off from Taghmon Airfield earlier in the evening.
The men were pronounced dead at the scene and their bodies were later removed to hospital for postmortem examinations.
They've been named as Peter Tawse from Co Wexford and John Finnan from Co Kildare.
The Air Accident Investigation Unit and the Irish Aviation Authority are investigating.
