West-Waterford Golf Club could have a new owner this afternoon as it goes under the hammer.
The clubhouse and 148 acres of land in Dungarvan are being auctioned online with an advised minimum value of €1.2 million.
The club was developed on farmland back in the early 1990s.
John Power, who has been a member for 28 years and says he would hate to see it as anything but a golf club.
"We don't think it will go we think it will stay as a golf course... The members are going to make a good bid at it and we'll do everything possible to try and see if we can buy it.
"If not we hope that somebody in the golfing world will buy it, or else someone who would be interested in running it as a golf course.
"The ideal situation would be that there would be one owner, one person running it and they would get the support of the 350 members as well," Power said.
The online auction which is being held by Colliers will take place at 3 o'clock.
