Weather will continue to be unsettled in the coming days

Met Éireann has indicated that the recent trend of unsettled weather will continue on Thursday with this morning set to remain overcast turning drier with spells of sunshine in the afternoon.

The sunny spells will come in to play in the western half of the country by early afternoon with the brighter weather extending nationwide later today with highest temperatures of 17 to 21 degrees.

Tonight will be dry and mainly clear with lows of 8 to 11 degrees in a light southwesterly breeze.

Friday will be mostly dry with sunny spells and highest temperatures of 17 to 21 degrees. There is a chance of isolated showers in the west and northwest.

Tomorrow night will be dry for much of the country with a mix of cloud and clear spells and lowest temperatures of 8 to 13 degrees. However, there will be some light showers, mainly inthe northwest and west.

It will become cloudier through the morning on Saturday as scattered light showers extend over much of the country. It is set to be driest in the east and south for the afternoon with the best of any sunny spells.

Better sunny spells will develop for the evening with just isolated showers.

Highest temperatures will be in the region of 16 to 20 degrees in mostly moderate southwest to west winds. It is expected to be coolest in the northwest where winds will turn a bit fresher later in the afternoon.

A few light showers will continue in the north and for Atlantic coastal areas on Saturday night. Otherwise it will be dry with a mix of cloud and clear spells and lowest temperatures of nine to 13 degrees.

Some sunny spells are expected on Sunday. However, scattered showers will develop through the morning and in the afternoon before becoming isolated in the evening with highest temperatures of 17 to 21 degrees generally.

However, it will be a degree or two cooler in parts of the north.

It will gradually turn cloudier on Sunday night from the southwest through the night with a few spots of light rain and drizzle developing in the west and southwest. The lowest temperatures will be from 7 to 11 degrees.

Current indications for Monday are that it will turn breezy with outbreaks of rain moving in from the southwest through the day, with highest temperatures of 17 to 20 degrees.

The weather will continue to be mixed next week with further spells of rain or showers at times, interspaced with some drier intervals.
