Thousands of students across the country have already packed their bags and sharpened their pencils, but this year they also had to remember their facecoverings, which will be part of the new normal for the 2020 to 2021 academic year.
WLR reporter Aoife Kearns travelled to Waterpark National School who opened their doors last Thursday, and spoke to some of their staff and students about what it has been like returning to the classroom.
