Voting is continuing for the election of senators to Seanad Eireann.
Its neck and neck between Waterford Independent Councillor Joe Conway and Senator Lorraine Lifford Lee who has called for a recount.
Senator Lifford Lee who is originally from Waterford but living in Dublin, was also an unsuccessful candidate for Dublin Fingal at the 2020 general election.
She lost her seat at the 2020 Seanad election but was returned to the Seanad after being nominated by Taoiseach Micheál Martin
After the 18th count, 676 votes separated Cllr. Joe Conway and Senator Lorraine Lifford Lee.
If elected, Cllr. Conway will serve on the educational vocation panel in Seanad Eireann.
The quota is 190,834 votes.
Meanwhile, former Waterford Independent TD Matt Shanahan is hoping to secure a seat on the Industrial and Commercial Committee, with counting getting underway in the coming hours.
