Waterford's Dan Mulhall to resign as Irish Ambassador

Waterford native, Dan Mulhall is stepping down from his role as the Ambassador of Ireland.

He has been Ambassador since 2017 and says he will miss representing Ireland around the world.

Dan, who is based in Washington, made the announcement via a Facebook post.

He says he wants to pursue other interests and will finish up in mid-August.

From September, he will be working as a Global Distinguished Professor of Irish Studies at New York University.

"I look forward to my next chapter and to the challenges and opportunities it will bring," he wrote in the post.
