Faithlegg woman Christina Donnelly, who's son Brendan was killed by a drunk driver in 2009, has been advocating for loopholes in Irish legislation to be closed.

'Brendan's Law' was approved by Cabinet in December of 2016, but has yet to be signed off.

It's been met with opposition from some TD's who say it would have a bearing on rural communities.

Christina says if TD's opposed to the legislation could see the pain families have to deal with, they'd changed their minds and called on them to "Come and spend one day with a mother, or father or brother, looking at photographs and wondering what your child looks like now."

Christina says she believes that "If they had an inkling of what families go through, they would stand up and applaud this legislation."
