Residents of Larchville and Lisduggan are celebrating today as they bring home a national award.
The Larchville Liduggan Residents Association took home the top prize as they won the National Pride of Place Award in Armagh last night.
The awards showcase and celebrate exceptional community development efforts.
The committee says they are delighted with the win.
“A big thank you to all our volunteers, especially John Burns, and the great community we live in. Thanks to our council community team Kevin Moynihan, Michael Murphy, and Vicky Butler our Mayor Joe Conway, as well as our Garda David Browne.
"Thanks to our sponsors, especially Larchville and Lisduggan Credit Union. There are too many brilliant people on our team to mention, but we are very proud of our Parish.”
Speaking to WLR News, Mayor of Waterford City and County Joe Conway says the group has extraordinary capabilities.
"It's unbelievable, and the vision that they have and not alone do they have a vision, but they have the ability to put it into practice. It's a wonderful combination of human qualities when you have vision and you couple that with an ability to see something through until the end."
