Shoppers have been queuing outside of Penneys on Barronstarnd Street in Waterford City since five o' clock this morning this morning.
A small group had gathered to ensure they would be the first customers into the store when it opens its doors, with some travelling from Dungarvan in the county.
The Waterford shoppers came prepared with foldable chairs, blankets and food provisions.
Speaking to WLR, the eager customers said they plan on purchasing a variety of offerings including bikinis, pyjamas, duvet covers, underwear, candles and skinny jeans but mostly 'bits and bobs'.
Customers will be able access the store from 10.30 am and it will remain open until 9.00pm.
The Waterford store is one of 16 reopening today, the remaining 20 located in shopping centres will re-open on Monday.
Fitting rooms will be off limits, as well as make-up counters - while social distancing will be in place to reduce the spread of Covid-19.
Meanwhile, toilets and cafes are also closed. The company said all returns will be 'managed in line with government advice.'
All staff will be offered face masks and gloves, while all tills will be behind Perspex screens.
Hand sanitising stations will be available around the stores and the company has hired staff to manage queues and encourage social distancing.
The company said each store will undergo deep cleaning before reopening and the stores will be cleaned more regularly during the day.
Primark CEO Paul Marchant said the company is delighted to reopen.
"While it might take a little longer to get into store, once inside, customers will find all their favourite Penneys products and plenty of choice as usual," he said.
"We have worked hard to make sure that clear signage and extra help will be there to guide them through the changes we have made to allow for social distancing.
"We are also asking customers to respect the measures we have put in place to help ensure shopping at Penneys is an enjoyable, safe experience for everyone."
