Waterford schools included in latest Safe Routes to School Programme

Two Waterford schools have been included in the latest round of the Safe Routes to School Programme.

The programme aims to create create safer walking and cycling routes to schools.

Saint John of God National School and Saint Savior's National School are among 108 schools nationwide to be included in the latest Safe Routes to School Programme.

It hopes to increase the number of students who walk or cycle to school by providing improvements to walking and cycling facilities, while also alleviating congestion at the school gates.

Minister Hildegarde Naughton, who confirmed the inclusion of the Waterford Schools, says around 37,000 students across the country will benefit from safer infrastructure.
