Waterford river incidents successfully resolved

Emergency services in Waterford responded to three separate callouts in the city this morning.

A large multi-agency response was launched when a person in distress was seen on the wrong side of railings on the Quay in Waterford by a River Rescue crew which was out training this morning

Waterford City River Rescue, Waterford City Fire Service, Rescue 117, An Garda Síochána and Waterford Ambulance Station were all involved in an intensive search of the River Suir.

As crews were being stood down they were redeployed to another incident unfolding in a separate area of the river also involving a person in distress. A similar call was made earlier this morning in the Adelphi Quay area.

All incidents were successfully resolved by emergency services.

Waterford City River Rescue are stressing the absolute importance of an early call to the Emergency Services for water incidents so the relevant services can be dispatched promptly.

If you see anyone in difficulty on our Lakes, Rivers or Coast, Call 999 or 112 and ask for The Irish Coast Guard who will dispatch the services needed to the scene. Do not assume somebody has already made that call.
