Waterford's R117 helicopter has been involved in the rescue operation in Kerry.

The Coast Guard was informed of a fishing vessel that was overdue just after 7pm on Friday.

According to Radio Kerry, the boat had left Dingle harbour a number of hours earlier.

It seems a shortage of fuel on Rescue 115 meant that the Rescue 117 chopper had to be dispatched from Waterford.

The boat was eventually found and the man, who had suffered some injuries, was brought to University Hospital Kerry where his condition is not thought to be life-threatening.
