Many pubs in Waterford are reopening today after being closed for six months.
Customers in Waterford City have been out as early at 11 am catching up with people over a pint.
Pubs will be operating under a strict table service policy, and customers must maintain a distance from one another.
Ed Cahill is from the Tully family, who run Tully's bar in Waterford city. He says that it's an amazing feeling to be back:
"Yesterday felt like Christmas Eve to be honest. Bit of nervousness, bit of excitement - it was a real mix of emotions.
"We know how important it is to do it right here, we're aware everyone has a role to play in keeping numbers down and bringing back normality but in a safe way and that's what we're really focused on doing here.
"It's a perfect day to be back in business, the sun is shining, customers are in saying hello having their coffees, there has been couple of pints but nothing too mad at all. It's just nice to see people coming back, regulars returning - it's just lovely."
Claire Lalvani is the owner of Thomas Maher's in Waterford City.
"We were here last night with the carpenters because we've built a whole new bottling room just to create more space within the pub for people to be able to sit, and to offer table service to our customers" Lavani said.
"This pub has been here since 1886 it' quite a small footprint so we had to look at where we can extend the space within the pub and open and operate the pub within the guidelines.
"I'm delighted has it been grey out there god knows, but it's such a beautiful day to open up the doors and have our customers in. We've had our first customers in this morning two very loyal customers who were at the door when we opened so it's really great to see them and catch up and just chat and figure out what they've been up to over the past six months."
Pubs in Dublin will not reopen for at least three more weeks but from today, people in Waterford can visit their local 'wet' pubs without a substantial meal.
