Waterford's Grace O'Sullivan says there's outrage in the European Parliament at Boris Johnson's attempts to breach international law with his controversial Internal Market Bill.
Last night the majority of British MPs passed the second reading of the bill.
But there's been widespread condemnation of it from within EU circles.
Green Party MEP Grace O'Sullivan says there is "outrage here in the European Parliament with regard to what's happening in the UK".
"This Internal Market Bill it's such an agitation, it's like Boris Johnson has thrown a cat amongst the pigeons, he has absolutely shown, by introducing this legislation, his disregard of international law.
"For a nation like the UK and for a nation that we in Ireland have such huge close ties to, it has thrown absolute shockwaves into the system."
The Ireland South MEP says Mr Johnson’s latest moves are seriously undermining the prospects of a trade deal being negotiated between the EU and the UK.
She says it "looks like we're around five weeks away from coming up with some kind of trade negotiation, it looks like it's not going to happen, it didn't happen on fisheries in July".
"Now we're coming to October, the final trade deal, it doesn't look like it's going to happen.
"By all accounts, it looks like there will be a situation where the UK will leave the European Union with no deal."
