It's a year to the day when the 15 million euro Waterford Greenway was officially opened by Minister Simon Coveney.
It stretches 46km from Waterford City to Dungarvan along the former Great Southern and Western Railway line.
It's the longest off-road walking and cycling experience in Ireland.
Data released in mid-December showed that close to 250,000 people used it in the first 10 months.
The Greenway has won the 'Grand Prix Award' and 'Best Tourism Initiative' prizes at the All Ireland Community and Council Awards.
The 'You'd never know who you might bump into on the Waterford Greenway' campaign gets underway at 2pm this afternoon at three locations - the Dungarvan Walton Park entrance, at Kilmacthomas Railway Station and at the WIT/Carriganore entrance just outside Waterford city.
The public will be met at all three locations by costumed characters who will be handing out cupcakes and balloons and making themselves available for selfies.
