Gardai in County Waterford say they have the resources available to deal with any incidents that arise.
They're out in force manning checkpoints as part of Operation Fanacht. It was initially in place over the East Bank Holiday and is aimed at stopping the spread of Covid-19.
Superintendent Michael Lacey says the day-to-day stuff also goes on.
"We deal with all the issues that we would normally deal with and we will continue to do that.
"I want the public to be reassured that we will respond to the calls that we are getting and we will deal with the things presented to us, whether it's domestic violence, public order, assaults or burglaries. They form part of our response and we have the resources to deal with that."
He says they regularly deal with instances of domestic violence.
"While we have seen a slight upturn in the instances of domestic calls, not a significant amount here in this district, but overall I think the rise is somewhere around 20% nationally so there has been.
"People are in situations that we need to respond to, we can respond to them and will respond to them. Where we get calls of domestic violence we will deal with that as we normally do."
Superintendent Lacey says they're not seeing any increase in public order incidents.
"Here in Dungarvan, not at the moment, the figures don't reflect that and people are generally compliant in respect of what we're asking them to do.
"We don't see incidents of public disorder in local estates, we don't see incidents of public drinking or that in scenic areas, we don't see that at the moment.
"People are mindful of the restrictions and the advice that they are getting in respect of public movement and public health."
