A woman is being held in custody at Waterford Garda Station this afternoon, in relation to an alleged assault on a member of the force last night.
Gardaí were responding to an emergency call from a taxi driver in the Conduit Lane area of the city at approximately 9:30pm.
During the course of dealing with the incident, a garda received what was described as a "substantial" bite to the left forearm and was taken to University Hospital Waterford for treatment.
The woman is currently being questioned in relation to the incident and a file will be prepared to the DPP.
