Electric vehicles will no longer be able to park for free in Waterford.
Waterford City and County Council says it's an incentive they cannot continue with.
According to a statement from the council, electric vehicles have been allowed to park free-of-charge in public Pay and Display areas in Waterford for the last number of years.
However, they say following a review of their parking charges and given the significant increase in the number of EVs on the roads, they cannot continue with this.
Free parking for EVs within the Council’s pay and display car parks and streets (in regular parking spaces) will cease from 1st February 2023. Free parking for EVs while charging at designated charging points remains unaffected.

From the 1st of February this year, EV drivers will have to pay for parking, the same as petrol or diesel car owners.
The council says it will continue to operate free parking for EVs while charging at designated public charging points throughout the city and county.
The local authority will also be installing 12 new fast chargers this year.
