The making of a Development Plan is a two year process with the pre-draft process opened this Monday 20th July.

The Waterford public are being urged to make a submission on this significant policy document which will shape the sustainable development and planning context for Waterford City and County for the next five years.

The portal and submission period is open until 14th September at www.consult.waterfordcouncil.ie.

Independent Councillor for Tramore Joe Conway says that the 2014 merger of City and County councils scuppered previous attempts to formulate a development plan for Waterford and the new plan is a chance for a fresh start.

"The thing that banjaxed the last plan to great extent was the fact that we had an amalgamation of new councils," he says, "We're starting with a tabula rasa now, lets make it right, make it fit for purpose and look after the welfare of people in Waterford for the next five years.
